Description

A small storage jar, 10.5cm tall and 10cm across, with a body of hand blown recycled glass and a lid carved from mango wood. The lid is smooth and carries a seal, so it closes tight on the glass. The shaping is done by traditional methods rather than by machine, which leaves every jar with its own small differences in form and in surface texture.

This is the smaller of the two Igoko sizes. The glass is clear, so the contents are read without the lid coming off, and the seal keeps dry goods fresh once a packet has been opened. At 10.5cm tall and 10cm across it takes up little depth on a shelf. It is for dry food only.

Recycled glass for the body, mango wood for the lid. The mango wood is a by-product of the fruit industry rather than timber grown for the purpose, cut from trees that have already finished bearing. The Igoko is also made in a taller size.
