Description

A storage jar in hand blown recycled glass, 17.5cm tall and 12.5cm across, closed by a smooth lid carved from mango wood. The body is clear, so what is inside can be seen without opening it, and the lid carries a seal that holds the closure shut. Because each body is blown by hand there are small variations in form and in surface from one jar to the next.

At 17.5cm tall and 12.5cm across this is the larger of the two Igoko sizes. It is made for dry goods decanted out of the bag, from pasta to pulses. The clear body means the level is read off the shelf without lifting the lid, and the seal keeps what is inside fresh once a bag has been opened. It is for dry food only.

The body is recycled glass and the lid is mango wood. The glass is shaped using traditional techniques, so no two jars are quite the same in form or in texture. Mango wood comes to this as a by-product of the fruit industry, the timber taken from trees only once they have finished bearing. The Igoko is made in two sizes, 17.5cm and 10.5cm tall.
