Description

A 60 by 40cm cushion cover handwoven in wool, with the colour graded across the long face from a dark mocha at one end, through tan and a band of charcoal, to a pale natural at the other. A narrow near black line runs down the weave where the grey meets the cream. The yarns are flecked rather than solid, so lighter and darker fibres show through every band, and the pale end carries a clear chevron twill that the darker end does not. Both short ends finish in a long fringe, brown at the dark end and cream at the pale one.

It is a rectangle rather than a square, so it sits along the back of a sofa or in front of a row of larger cushions instead of in a matching pair. It sits between bigger square cushions with the fringe left loose against them. The graded face means it can be turned to lead with the dark end or the pale one, depending on what it is sitting against.

The cover is wool and cotton, hand dyed and then handwoven on a loom. The tonal yarns are blended through the weave to grade the colour, and the fringes are finished by hand, so the depth of each band and the fall of the fringe differ from one cover to the next. The inner pad is not included.

Lift a spill with an absorbent tissue, then blot with a sponge or a folded towel moistened in lukewarm water, and dry the area with warm air from a hair dryer to avoid a water mark. Larger stains should go to a professional. All the covers are tested for colourfastness.
