Description

The Ibo Small is a round wall mirror, 80cm across and 4cm deep, in a thick frame of reclaimed wood. The frame is built from short lengths set side by side around the circle, so the grain runs outward from the glass like the spokes of a wheel and every join between the pieces shows. The wood keeps the knots, the splits and the colour changes it came with. The glass sits in the centre as a plain round mirror.

At 80cm across and 10.4kg this needs fixing properly: its scale and weight mean it requires secure fastening to a wall. It hangs either way up, so the run of the grain around the frame can be turned to suit. Above a console table the frame stands proud enough to throw a shadow onto the wall around it.

The frame is reclaimed wood. The panels it is built from were once used on Indian trucks, so the markings they carry come from that work rather than from finishing, and every mirror carries its own. Ibo runs widely: side and coffee tables, cabinets, sideboards, shelves, a bench, and a larger version of this mirror at 110cm.

Reclaimed wood, from panels once used on Indian trucks.
