Description
The Ibo is a sideboard, 122cm wide, 84cm high and 34cm deep, built from reclaimed wood on four short square legs. Two doors take up the front, each glazed with a clear pane in a plank frame, and both ends are glazed as well, so the inside shows from three sides. The doors meet in the middle and open on a pair of curved antique brass handles, each set on a small trefoil backplate. A shelf runs the full width at mid height.
At 34cm deep this is a shallow sideboard, and it will stand against a wall in a hallway or a dining room without taking much floor. Because it is glazed at the front and both ends, what goes inside is on show rather than shut away: folded linen and stacked china. The top is 84cm from the floor, a height to set things down on rather than to sit at.
The wood is reclaimed. It travelled the roads of India as part of a truck before it was cut down and made up into this, and it is chosen for the weathered surface, the grain and the marks left from that first life, so the tone and the texture differ from one sideboard to the next. The Ibo range runs to console tables, side tables, cabinets, shelves and a bench in the same wood.

Frequently Asked
What are the dimensions?
122cm wide, 84cm high and 34cm deep.
Is it glazed all round?
The two front doors and both ends are glazed. The back is solid wood.
How many shelves are there?
One, running the full width at mid height.
What are the handles?
Antique brass, curved, each on a small backplate.
How heavy is it?
55.8kg.
How do I look after it?
The furniture is sealed before it leaves, but it still wants looking after. Wipe the surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth, and use mild soap and water sparingly, always along the grain. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away from it, use mats and coasters under anything wet, and soak up spills at once, then dry the surface. Keep it out of strong direct sunlight, which fades the wood, and away from extremes of heat and humidity, which crack and split it.
