Description

A round cereal bowl, 16.5cm across and 7cm deep, made from white clay and glazed. Round the rim runs a band of indigo brushwork: short straight strokes set side by side, each running from the outer edge inward and finishing in a blunt head, so the band reads as a ring of matchsticks pointing into the middle. The centre is left plain white.

At 16.5cm across and 7cm deep this is a wide, shallow bowl rather than a deep one, so a spoon gets to the bottom of it easily and it takes cereal, soup or a helping of something with sauce. The pattern sits at the rim, so it still shows when the bowl is full. It is dishwasher safe and food safe. Several will stack together.

The bowl is made in Vietnam from white clay, shaped and then painted by hand, so the strokes round the rim are never spaced quite the same way twice. The Iba range runs to dinner plates, side plates, pasta bowls, serving bowls, mugs, a jug, a butter dish and a twelve-piece dinnerware set, all in the same indigo.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

16.5cm across and 7cm deep.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes, and food safe.

Is the pattern painted on?

Yes, by hand, stroke by stroke, so no two bowls carry exactly the same band.

What is it made from?

White clay, shaped and glazed in Vietnam.

How should it be washed?

It is dishwasher safe. By hand, wash it after each use with a mild detergent so it does not stain, do not leave it to soak, and handle it carefully to avoid chipping.
