The Hilow Line Nero Marquina is a floor lamp reduced to a single upright line of light: a slim aluminium rod in a Brushed Champagne finish, just 2.3cm across, rising from a black cylindrical base veined in white. It stands 207cm tall, and the base is 30cm tall and 12cm across, so it takes up very little floor. The light is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 39W and gives 2714 lumens, with a CRI of 90, which means colours, wood and fabric look true under it. It comes in two colour temperatures, 2700K or 3000K: choose 2700K for a warmer, softer glow or 3000K for a slightly crisper white.

We see it in a living room, standing in a corner, beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa, where a tall line of light lifts the room without a shade taking up space. Its narrow footprint suits a tight spot between furniture or beside a window, and its height draws the eye upwards in a room with a high ceiling. A pair either side of a fireplace or a wide doorway gives a living room a calm, symmetrical frame. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

It plugs in and runs at 230V, so there is nothing to wire in and you can move it when you rearrange the room. It is dimmable, with a dimmer on the cable, so you can turn it down for a quiet evening and bring it back up when you want to read. The Brushed Champagne finish runs the full length of the rod, and the cylindrical base holds the line upright. One practical note before you order: each lamp comes in one colour temperature, 2700K or 3000K, so pick the one that suits the room and the other lights in it.
