Description

The Helios A/01 is a round LED wall light: a flat disc 26cm across that sits 7.5cm out from the wall, finished in Oak Brown & Beige Thread. The front is a solid brown disc, and behind it a band of beige cotton thread runs around the edge. The light comes out sideways through that thread and spreads over the wall in a soft halo, so you see the glow rather than the source. Its integrated LED draws 16.8W and gives 789 lumens of warm 2700K light with a CRI of 90, so colours look true, and there is no bulb to buy or change.

We think it belongs in a bedroom, a dining room or a living room, anywhere you want a calm wash of light at wall height rather than a bright overhead lamp. One beside a bed gives a quiet glow for winding down; several across one wall, set at different heights, build up a pattern of light circles. It dims with a compatible dimmer, as it is TRIAC dimmable, so you can bring it down low for a long dinner or a late film. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

The body is aluminium and iron, and the band around its edge is cotton thread, which gives the light its soft, slightly textured fall across the wall. The design is by Gonzalo Milà. It runs on 230V mains and is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection, and it is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. If you plan to dim it, check that the dimmer on that circuit is a compatible TRIAC dimmer before the electrician arrives, so the switch and the light are sorted together.
