Harsha Leather Dining Chair - Chocolate Brown

The Harsha is a dining chair with a buffalo leather shell on four slim iron legs, 85cm tall and 45cm wide. The shell runs from the seat up into a back that widens towards the shoulders, with a rolled edge carried right around it. The front of the back is stitched into vertical ribs and the outside is left plain, so from behind the whole thing reads as one curved piece. The leather is a warm mid brown that darkens along the rolled edge and in the creases, and the legs are round in section, splayed out and tapered to a point.

The seat is 50cm from the floor, 45cm across and 41cm deep, which puts it under a dining table of the usual height. The chair takes up 45 x 53cm of floor and has no arms, so it pushes all the way in. At 6.9kg it is light enough to carry to a desk and back.

The upholstery is buffalo leather, a by-product of herds farmed by local herdsmen, dyed with vegetable extract and tree bark, so the colour enriches with time. The frame is iron. Every hide takes the dye differently, so the depth of tone varies from chair to chair. The Harsha is made as a dining chair and as a counter chair, and the dining chair comes in three colourways.

How do I look after it?

Wipe the leather with a soft dry cloth and keep chemicals and household cleaners away from it. To stop it drying out and cracking, feed it with a specialist leather product, petroleum jelly or flax oil.
