Description

A bottle stopper with the head of a hare cast in iron above a natural cork, 8cm from the ear tips to the base of the cork and 3.5cm across. The head is modelled with the ears up and swept back, the muzzle and brow worked in fine relief, and it sits on a short ringed collar where the metal meets the cork. The iron is finished antique, matt rather than polished, and it runs darker where the casting is deepest.

It fits a wine bottle. Pushed into the neck, the cork seals the bottle and the hare stands clear of the glass above it. The cork is natural and gives as it goes in, so it seats in a standard bottle neck without being forced.

The head is iron and the stopper below it is cork. The antique finish is matt rather than reflective, and each casting takes it a little differently, so the depth of colour varies from one to the next. It is food safe, and it is sold singly.
