Description

The Hansika is a mango wood photo frame, 34.25cm tall and 29cm wide, holding a picture of 20 by 25cm. The border is wide and flat, and two rows of carving run around it: a line of small square notches along the outer edge and a second line around the opening. The wood is a warm mid-brown with the grain showing through, and the carving is done by hand, so the notches vary in width and depth around a single border.

It is made for portrait pictures and it does both jobs. A hinged strut folds out of the back so it stands on a shelf or a sideboard, and it is made to be wall hung as well. The aperture is 20 by 25cm, which is an 8 by 10 inch picture.

The frame is mango wood with a glass front, 4cm deep and weighing 0.89kg. Because each border is carved individually no two are identical, and the notching runs slightly unevenly where one row meets a corner. The Hansika is made in two sizes: this one, and a smaller 5 by 7 taking a 12.5 by 17.75cm picture.

Frequently Asked

What size picture does it take?

Does it stand or hang?

Both. A strut folds out of the back for a shelf, and it is made to be wall hung.

Is it portrait or landscape?

Portrait.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it over regularly with a soft, dry cloth so dust and dirt do not build up, and use a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass.
