Description

The Haldmere linear pendant runs 1620mm end to end with five opal glass globes on adjustable stems, hanging between 835mm and 935mm tall with a depth of 445mm. The length is the point, because it lights a long surface evenly instead of pooling in the middle. Matt antique brass metalwork holds the globes along a central bar, and the stems adjust so they can be set level or stepped. The opal glass keeps every lamp soft to look at directly, which matters on a fitting that sits at head height. It weighs 3.9kg.

Linear pendants belong over kitchen islands, long dining tables and breakfast bars. At 1620mm this one covers a good stretch of worktop, and we would hang it with the lowest globe about 750mm above the surface so it lights the work without blocking the view across the room. It also works over a long console in a hallway or above a pool table. It suits open plan kitchens where one long ceiling light does more than a cluster.

The bar, stems and ceiling plate are metal in matt antique brass, with five opal glass globes over E14 LED lamps of around 7W each. It is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer, so it can run bright for cooking and low for eating. Once cool, wipe the glass with a barely damp cloth and dry it, then dust the brass with a dry cloth and keep sprays off the matt finish. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, and it is a Class 1 fitting that needs an earthed supply. The Haldmere range also runs to a semi-flush and a wall light.
