Description
An iron fire bowl set into the middle of a flat circular surround, the whole 130cm across and standing 54cm high on a three-legged stand. The bowl is deep and dished, with two upright loop handles rising from its rim, and a round grill of parallel bars drops into its mouth. The surround is a broad flat ring of iron running from the bowl out to the edge. Every part is left bare, so the iron carries its own rust colour rather than a paint.
The surround is what separates this from a plain fire bowl: a flat ring of metal all the way round the fire, wide enough to stand glasses and plates on while people gather at it. It becomes warm to the touch while the bowl is at its hottest, so it will not keep anything cold. At 130cm across it wants an open corner of a terrace or a lawn with room to stand right round it, and it is for outdoors only, never inside, never in an enclosed space and never under an overhead structure. The grill drops into the bowl, so the same fire cooks and then burns on after the food is done.
It is iron throughout: the bowl, the surround, the grill and the stand. Nothing is painted or lacquered, so the surface weathers outdoors and the rust colour deepens where rain reaches it. It burns wood and charcoal, and the grill is included. Halali is made in one size.

Frequently Asked
Can it be used indoors?
No. It is for outdoor use only, never in an enclosed area or a building and never under an overhead structure.
Does it come with a grill?
Yes. A round grill drops into the mouth of the bowl for barbecuing.
What can I burn in it?
Wood or charcoal. Never use spirit or petrol to light it, and only light it with certified firelighters.
Does the surround get hot?
It becomes warm to the touch while the bowl is at its hottest, so it is no place for a glass you want to stay cold, but it takes glasses and plates.
How do I clean a fire pit?
Take a wire brush and hot soapy water to the grill after use, dry it with a cloth, then rub a cooking oil into it and store it somewhere dry. The bowl takes a wire brush in the same way. Empty standing rainwater out regularly to slow rusting, and put the whole thing under cover over the winter months.
Does it get hot in use?
Very. Do not touch it without heatproof gloves, let it cool fully before handling it, and keep children and pets out of reach.
