Description

The Knightsbridge GU10 recessed fixed downlight features a white die-cast aluminium bezel with a twist-and-lock lamp holder pre-wired for 230V mains. The fitting accepts standard GU10 halogen or LED bulbs up to 50W (sold separately) and sits flush to the ceiling with only 2mm projection once installed. The fixed head directs light straight down, making it suitable for general ceiling illumination in rooms where adjustable spotlighting is not needed.

Designed for residential and commercial installation in dry indoor environments, the downlight requires a 70mm ceiling cut-out and a minimum 140mm void depth above the ceiling for the lamp holder and heat dissipation. The twist-lock mechanism secures the GU10 bulb with a quarter-turn, removing the need for separate clips or retaining rings. The IP20 rating confirms protection against solid objects larger than 12mm but no moisture resistance, so the fitting is not suitable for bathrooms or wet areas.

The white powder-coated finish on the die-cast aluminium bezel pairs with white ceilings to minimise visual prominence when the light is off, keeping the ceiling plane clean. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a dimmable GU10 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch on the lighting circuit. The lamp holder also accepts MR16 fittings, providing flexibility to use either GU10 twist-lock or MR16 push-fit bulbs depending on availability and preference.

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum 140mm void depth above the ceiling is needed to accommodate the lamp holder and allow heat dissipation. The fitting itself recesses 90mm into the ceiling, with the remaining space needed for wiring and airflow around the bulb.

Does it come with a bulb?

No. The downlight accepts GU10 or MR16 bulbs up to 50W, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W GU10 LED bulb for general ceiling lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming capability depends on the bulb used and the dimmer switch fitted to the lighting circuit. When paired with a dimmable GU10 LED and a compatible LED dimmer, the fitting will dim smoothly.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating provides no moisture protection, so the fitting is not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use. For bathroom installation, look for IP65-rated downlights in the Knightsbridge range.
