Description
The Knightsbridge RD1C is a fixed GU10 recessed downlight with a chrome bezel and twist-lock fitting system, allowing the lamp holder to be removed for bulb changes without accessing the rear of the ceiling. The die-cast aluminium body houses a pre-wired 230V GU10 lamp holder rated to 50W maximum, compatible with both halogen and LED GU10 bulbs (sold separately).
Designed for installation in solid ceilings, plasterboard ceilings with joist voids, and suspended ceiling systems where a minimum 140mm void depth is available, the downlight requires a 70mm diameter cut-out and projects just 2mm below the ceiling surface once fitted. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry interior rooms including living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and kitchens outside splash zones. The fixed bezel means the light direction cannot be adjusted after installation, making it suited to general ambient lighting rather than accent or task lighting.
The chrome finish provides a polished metallic accent that pairs with both modern and traditional interiors. The twist-lock mechanism allows the bezel and lamp holder assembly to be rotated and lifted out from the front of the ceiling, giving access to change the bulb without removing ceiling panels or accessing wiring from above. Dimming capability depends on the bulb chosen — most dimmable LED GU10 bulbs work with standard trailing-edge dimmers.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is required?
A minimum 140mm void depth is needed to accommodate the 90mm recessed body plus clearance for the wiring and lamp holder. The cut-out diameter is 70mm and the visible bezel diameter is 79mm.
How does the twist-lock mechanism work?
The chrome bezel and lamp holder assembly twist into the recessed body and lock in place. To change a bulb, twist the bezel anti-clockwise and lift out from the front of the ceiling — no access to the rear void is needed.
Is it dimmable?
Dimming depends on the GU10 bulb used. Most dimmable LED GU10 bulbs work with standard trailing-edge dimmers, but check the bulb packaging for compatibility before pairing with a dimmer switch.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating means it is not protected against moisture ingress and should not be installed in bathroom zones where water splashing is possible. For bathrooms, choose a downlight rated IP44 or higher.
