Description
The Knightsbridge RD2C is a GU10 recessed downlight with a 25° tilt mechanism and twist-lock fitting, finished in chrome die-cast aluminium. The fitting accepts standard GU10 mains-voltage halogen or LED bulbs up to 50W (sold separately) and includes a pre-wired 230V GU10 lamp holder. The twist-lock design allows the lamp holder to be rotated and locked into position after the bulb is fitted, securing it in place without additional clips or springs.
Designed for residential ceilings, kitchen zones, hallways and commercial spaces with a minimum 150mm void depth above the ceiling surface, the downlight requires an 80mm cut-out diameter and sits nearly flush with the ceiling once installed, projecting just 2.5mm below the surface. The 25° tilt range allows light to be angled towards walls, artwork or specific zones within a room rather than being locked in a fixed vertical position. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for general interior ceiling zones where moisture exposure is not a concern.
The chrome finish provides a high-polish reflective surface that works with both contemporary and traditional interiors. The die-cast aluminium construction dissipates heat more effectively than plastic alternatives, extending bulb life when paired with halogen lamps and maintaining cooler operating temperatures with LED bulbs. The fitting is Class I earthed and requires connection to a ceiling circuit earth for safe operation. Dimming capability depends on the bulb installed — GU10 LED bulbs labelled as dimmable will work with trailing-edge dimmer switches, while non-dimmable LEDs should be used on switched circuits only.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is needed?
A minimum 150mm void depth above the ceiling surface is required to accommodate the 98mm recessed depth of the fitting plus clearance for wiring and heat dissipation. The cut-out diameter is 80mm.
Can the light direction be adjusted after installation?
Yes. The lamp holder tilts up to 25° from vertical, allowing the light beam to be angled towards walls, artwork or specific areas rather than being fixed straight down. The tilt is adjusted by hand once the bulb is installed.
Is it dimmable?
Dimming depends on the GU10 bulb installed. Dimmable GU10 LED bulbs work with trailing-edge dimmer switches. Non-dimmable LEDs and standard halogen bulbs should be used on switched circuits only, not with dimmers.
What's the difference between GU10 and MR16?
GU10 is a mains-voltage (230V) lamp base with a twist-lock bayonet fitting. MR16 is a low-voltage (12V) lamp base requiring a separate transformer. This fitting accepts both, but most users install GU10 bulbs to avoid the need for a transformer.
