Description

The Knightsbridge RD2CBR is a recessed tilt downlight with a GU10 lamp holder, brushed chrome bezel and twist-lock fitting mechanism. The die-cast aluminium housing sits flush to the ceiling with a 2.5mm projection once installed, while the inner gimbal tilts up to 25° in any direction to aim light onto walls, artwork or workspaces rather than straight downward.

Designed for residential and commercial ceilings with a 150mm minimum void above, the downlight fits an 80mm diameter cut-out and locks into position with a twist-and-lock spring mechanism that secures the fitting without visible screws or clips on the ceiling face. The pre-wired GU10 lamp holder accepts standard GU10 halogen or LED bulbs up to 50W (bulbs sold separately), and the downlight is rated IP20 for dry interior use in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and kitchens.

The brushed chrome finish provides a low-sheen metallic accent that pairs with modern and contemporary schemes without the high reflectivity of polished chrome. The 94mm outer diameter bezel hides the cut-out edge and the 98mm recessed depth houses the lamp holder and wiring terminals inside the ceiling cavity. Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb fitted — GU10 LED bulbs labelled as dimmable will work with standard trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmers.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

A minimum 150mm void above the ceiling is required to accommodate the 98mm recessed depth of the lamp holder housing plus cable runs and insulation clearance.

Is this downlight dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb fitted. GU10 LED bulbs labelled as dimmable will work with most trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmers. Non-dimmable bulbs will not dim and may flicker if fitted to a dimmer circuit.

Can the light direction be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The inner gimbal tilts up to 25° in any direction, allowing the beam to be aimed at walls, artwork or specific areas rather than straight downward. The tilt is adjusted by hand once the bulb is removed.

What's the difference between GU10 and MR16 lamp holders?

The specification lists both GU10 and MR16 bases. GU10 is a 230V mains-voltage fitting with a bayonet twist-lock base. MR16 typically runs on 12V via a transformer. Confirm which lamp holder is supplied before purchasing bulbs.
