Description

The Knightsbridge RD1CBR is a fixed recessed downlight with a brushed chrome bezel and a twist-lock GU10 lampholder. The die-cast aluminium housing fits a 70mm ceiling cut-out and requires a minimum 140mm void above the ceiling for installation. The fitting is pre-wired with a GU10 socket rated to 50W maximum, accepting standard GU10 halogen or LED bulbs (sold separately).

Designed for general lighting in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and kitchens, the fixed bezel directs light downwards without tilt or rotation. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor areas only — this fitting is not suitable for bathrooms, shower rooms or outdoor installations. The twist-lock mechanism secures the bulb into the lampholder with a quarter-turn, preventing the bulb from working loose over time.

The brushed chrome finish provides a neutral metallic accent that pairs with both warm and cool-toned interiors. The 79mm outer bezel diameter with just 2mm projection from the ceiling gives a low-profile finish once installed. The die-cast aluminium construction provides rigidity and heat dissipation for halogen bulbs, though most users now pair this fitting with LED GU10 bulbs at 4-6W for lower running costs and cooler operation.

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum 140mm void above the ceiling is needed to accommodate the 90mm recessed depth of the fitting plus clearance for the bulb and wiring. Measure your ceiling void before ordering.

Is this downlight dimmable?

Dimming capability depends on the GU10 bulb fitted. LED GU10 bulbs marked as dimmable will work with most trailing-edge dimmers. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if connected to a dimmer circuit.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means this fitting is not protected against moisture ingress and must not be installed in bathrooms, shower rooms or other wet environments. For bathroom use, look for downlights rated IP44 or IP65.

What bulb should I use?

Any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W will fit. Most users now choose LED GU10 bulbs between 4-6W and 3000K colour temperature for warm white general lighting. Bulbs are sold separately at Niori.
