Description

The Gorsewell linear pendant hangs thirteen ribbed and frosted glass shades from a satin brass bar, spreading light along a surface instead of pooling it in one spot. The bar measures 1180mm long and 426mm deep, and the drop adjusts between 565mm and 1030mm so it can sit low over a table or higher in a taller room. Thirteen G9 lampholders each take a 3W LED bulb, which together give a generous level of ambient light. The finished pendant weighs 4.5kg, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

A linear ceiling light of this length is made for a kitchen island or a long dining table, where a single round fitting would leave the ends in shadow. We would allow roughly 700mm to 800mm of clear height above a worktop or table top, which the adjustable drop handles easily. It also works over a wide console in a hallway with height to spare. The frosted glass takes the glare out of thirteen bulbs, so nobody sitting beneath it is looking into a bright point of light.

The bar, ceiling plate and shade collars are metal in satin brass, and each glass shade is ribbed so that it catches the light. Wipe the glass with a barely damp cloth and dry it at once, dusting the brass with a dry soft cloth and keeping sprays away from the finish. It is a Class 2 fitting and needs no earth at the ceiling rose, though the weight is worth checking against your fixing.
