Description
The Gorsewell gathers twelve ribbed and frosted glass shades on a satin brass frame, so the cluster reads as one soft mass of light rather than twelve separate points. It measures 735mm across and 735mm deep, with a drop that adjusts between 580mm and 820mm to suit the ceiling height in the room. Each shade takes a 3W G9 LED lamp, spreading twelve small sources across the full width of the fitting. At 4kg this is a substantial ceiling light, and the ribbing breaks the light into fine vertical lines as it passes through the glass.
A pendant this wide needs room to be seen properly, both from below and from across the room. We would hang it over a dining table, in a stairwell or double height hallway, or centred in a living room with a generous ceiling. The frosted glass keeps glare low, so it is comfortable to sit beneath for a whole evening, and twelve lamps give even ambient light without one harsh hotspot. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms. If you are lighting a whole floor, a matching Gorsewell wall light carries the same ribbed glass and satin brass.
The frame is metal in a satin brass finish, softer and less reflective than polished brass, and it shows fingerprints far less readily. Construction is Class 2 and double insulated, so no earth connection is needed at the ceiling rose. Wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth, using a barely damp one for marks and letting it dry fully before switching back on, and keep solvents and abrasive creams away from the brass. Given the weight and the number of lamp holders, fitting is work for a qualified electrician. Against pale walls the Gorsewell stays quiet, and against darker paint the brass does more of the work.

Frequently Asked
What are the shades made of?
Ribbed and frosted glass, held on a metal frame in a satin brass finish. The frosting is what keeps the light soft, and the ribbing gives the glass a fine vertical texture that shows up best when the lamps are on.
How do I clean it?
Switch it off and let the lamps cool, then wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth. Use a barely damp cloth for marks and dry it fully before switching back on. Keep solvents, polishes and abrasive creams away from the satin brass.
How much space does it need?
It is 735mm across and 735mm deep, and the drop adjusts from 580mm to 820mm. Over a dining table we would allow around 750mm of clearance above the tabletop, so measure your ceiling height before ordering.
Which bulbs does it use?
Twelve 3W G9 LED lamps, one in each shade. G9 is a small two pin capsule fitting, and staying with LED keeps both the running temperature and the electricity use down across twelve holders.
Can I put it on a dimmer?
Not this one. Wire it to a standard switch, and if you want variable levels in the same room, add a dimmable table or floor lamp alongside it instead.
Can it go in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, which covers dry indoor rooms only, so keep it to living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, landings and bedrooms.
