Description

The Glide is a 37cm outdoor spike light with a graphite aluminium body and a tinted glass cylinder shade housing a single G9 bulb fitting. The spike base pushes into soil or gravel to stand the light upright, positioning the lamp head at approximately 20cm above ground level once installed. The IP54 rating protects the internal components from water spray and dust ingress.

Designed for pathway edging, garden borders and low-level accent lighting, the Glide suits spaces where discrete upward light marks a route or highlights a planted area without creating glare at eye level. The 4cm diameter and graphite finish allow the light to recede into planting during the day, while the tinted glass shade softens the bulb glow at night. The G9 bulb base accepts halogen or LED capsules up to 20W.

The aluminium construction resists corrosion in damp soil and the graphite powder coat finish is UV-stable, preventing the grey tone from fading under direct sun exposure. The spike length provides stability in most garden soils — firmer ground may need pre-drilling with a narrower pilot hole to avoid bending the spike during installation. The tinted glass reduces direct bulb visibility, directing most light output upward through the top of the cylinder and creating a soft pool of light on adjacent surfaces.

What bulb does it take?

The Glide takes a G9 capsule bulb up to 20W, sold separately. Most users pair this with a G9 LED capsule between 2-4W and 2700K-3000K for pathway lighting. Halogen G9 bulbs are also compatible but generate more heat and consume more energy than LED equivalents.

Can it be used in wet soil?

Yes. The IP54 rating protects against water spray from any direction, making the light suitable for garden beds, borders and lawn edges where irrigation or rain will wet the base of the spike. The aluminium construction resists corrosion in damp soil.

How deep does the spike go into the ground?

The total height is 37cm, with approximately 15-17cm of that being the spike portion below the lamp head. In soft soil the spike pushes in by hand pressure. In firmer ground, pre-drill a narrow pilot hole to avoid bending the spike during installation.

What light output does it provide?
