Gemma 1 Light Mini Pendant - Gold

The Gemma is a 260mm diameter mini pendant light built around a cylindrical gold metal cage filled with rectangular amber pearl and clear crystal prisms. A single E27 bulb inside the cage (sold separately) casts light through the prisms, creating refracted light patterns on surrounding surfaces and a warm glow through the amber glass.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and alcoves where a 260mm diameter pendant provides enough visual weight without overwhelming the space, the Gemma can be hung as a single pendant or in multiples on a shared ceiling rose. The adjustable drop ranges from 521mm to 1416mm, allowing the pendant to be set 700-900mm above a worktop or dining surface depending on ceiling height. The gold frame works in warm-toned interiors, traditional schemes with brass accents, and contemporary settings where mixed metals are used.

The crystal prisms are arranged vertically within the gold cage, with alternating amber pearl and clear glass creating a layered depth when viewed from the side. The combination of transparent and translucent glass gives different light effects depending on the bulb type — a warm filament bulb emphasises the amber tone, while a clear LED produces sharper refractions through the crystal. The metal frame is finished in a mid-tone gold that sits between polished brass and antique brass, avoiding the high reflectivity of chrome while maintaining a metallic presence.

What bulb does it take?

The Gemma takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W, sold separately. A warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2700K enhances the amber prisms, while a clear LED produces sharper refracted light through the crystal.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is adjustable on installation only. The cable length allows the pendant to hang between 521mm and 1416mm from the ceiling, but once the excess cable is concealed in the canopy and the pendant is fitted, the drop cannot be altered without removing the canopy and re-routing the cable.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

At minimum drop of 521mm the pendant sits approximately 819mm from ceiling to base (521mm cable + 298mm fitting height). For a dining table or island this typically requires a ceiling height of at least 2.4m to maintain comfortable head clearance.

Can multiple Gemma pendants be hung together?

Yes. The 260mm diameter allows two or three pendants to be spaced evenly along a kitchen island or dining table. Hinkley does not supply multi-pendant canopies, so a separate ceiling plate or three individual ceiling roses would be needed for a cluster arrangement.
