Description

A table runner 180cm long and 35cm across, handwoven from seagrass and cotton. The weave is coarse and ribbed, running in close bands from one long edge to the other, so the surface reads as a run of low ridges rather than a flat weave. The tone is a deep mocha brown that shifts a shade lighter and darker along the length, and the short ends are bound rather than hemmed.

At 180cm it runs the length of a table for six with a little over at each end, and at 35cm across it leaves room for a place setting on either side. It is thick enough to sit where it is put rather than sliding, and it takes candle holders and a bowl down its centre without needing anything under them.

The runner is seagrass and cotton, interlaced by hand, so the tone and the tightness of the weave vary from piece to piece and along a single runner. Nothing is dyed evenly. The Gatita range also holds a rectangular seagrass placemat in the same mocha, in sets of four.
