Description

The Garota A/01 is an outdoor wall light with a single woven shade in a flattened globe shape, hung from a curved arm that drops from a round wall rose. The shade is Brown and the fitting is finished in Graphite & Brown. Its light comes from an integrated LED of 8.4W, giving 263 lumens at a warm 2700K with a CRI of 90, so there is no bulb to buy and colours look true beneath it. It projects 32.5cm from the wall and stands 26cm tall overall; the shade is 27cm across and 16cm tall, and the wall rose is 12cm.

Rated IP66, it is made for outdoor use and stands up to rain, so it suits an exposed wall as well as a sheltered one. We like it beside a front or back door, along a garden wall, on a terrace or by a patio table, where the woven shade looks warm and relaxed by day and glows gently after dark. A pair either side of a doorway works well, and a run of them along a wall marks out a path or a seating area. It is TRIAC dimmable, so on a compatible dimmer you can turn it down for a quiet evening outside or up when you need to see the steps.

The Garota is made from aluminium, stainless steel, polyethylene and synthetic fibre, and the design is by Alex Fernández Camps and Gonzalo Milà. It runs on 230V mains and is wired in, so it is for a qualified electrician to install, and as a Class I fitting it needs an earthed supply. With the LED built in, there is nothing to change inside the shade, and at 263 lumens it is a gentle accent light rather than a floodlight, so plan it for atmosphere and for finding your way to the door at night.
