Description

This set brings together 16 pieces of black stainless steel cutlery: four knives, four forks, four spoons and four teaspoons, enough to lay a table for four. Every piece shares the same tapered handle, slim at the neck and widening into a rounded end, and the black has a soft, low sheen rather than a high shine. The knife is 22.5cm long and the fork 20cm, both full table size for a main meal. The spoon is 19.4cm long, a generous size for soup or dessert, while the 14.5cm teaspoon is the small one for stirring tea or coffee.

Black cutlery shows up clearly against pale linen, light wood and white plates, and it sits just as happily beside stoneware in earthy glazes. Because the set covers the four pieces that most meals need, it works as everyday cutlery for a couple or a small household as well as for dinner with friends at the weekend. The spoon takes care of soup, cereal and pudding; the teaspoon covers yoghurt, a sugar bowl and the coffee after dinner. It also makes a thoughtful gift for someone setting up a first home.

Each piece is 100% stainless steel, and the black is a PVD coating over the steel rather than a paint.
