Description

The Folie S/70.2 is a large tiered pendant light, its shade a Cream Translucent Ribbon gathered into fine vertical pleats and set in two tiers, with a slim black ring circling the upper section. Because the ribbon is translucent, the whole shade glows when it is lit and softens the light from the bulbs inside, so a room is lit by a gentle glow rather than bare bulbs. It is generously sized: the shade is 70cm across, the fitting is 247cm tall overall, and it hangs on a 150cm cable from a ceiling canopy 14cm across and 2.7cm deep.

This is a pendant for a dining room or a living room, and it is happiest where there is height to fill. Hung over a dining table it gives the table a clear centre, and in a large living room it can be the main light of the room. Given its overall height, it suits rooms with a high ceiling, and two or three hung together over a long table look very good. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only. It takes five E27 bulbs, which are sold separately: they are its light source, at up to 15W each, so choose bulbs within that limit.

The structure is steel and aluminium in a Black finish, and the Cream Translucent Ribbon shade is pleated all the way round each tier, held at its waist by the black ring. The design is by Christophe Mathieu. It runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician, so plan for that when you order, and have your five bulbs ready on the day it goes up.
