Description

The larger Danta folding frame takes an 8 by 10 inch photograph in each of its two panels. Each panel measures 20cm wide and 26cm tall, and the glass is held in a brass channel soldered around all four sides, with the hinge running the full height between the two. The joins are left as the solder makes them, darker than the brass around them.

Both panels are glass front and back, so a photograph put between them is seen from either side and the light carries straight through the frame instead of stopping at a backing board. A wire strut folds out behind each panel and the two panels stand at an angle to each other, which is what holds the whole thing up. It does not fix to a wall. It stands on a desk, and it holds pressed leaves as readily as prints.

The frame is brass and glass, and each one is soldered by hand with traditional tools, which is why the weld marks along the joins are different on every frame. The brass is left as it comes rather than worked to an even shine. This is the larger of the two Danta folding frames; the other takes a 5 by 7 inch photograph.
