Description

The Firefly in the Sky is a rechargeable table lamp in matt black, and once it is charged it needs no cable at all. A flared shade sits on a slim stem above a round base. The lamp stands 26.5cm tall and 12.4cm across, so it fits easily on a narrow shelf or a small bedside table. The light comes from an integrated LED, which means there is never a bulb to buy or change. It draws 2W and gives 134 lumens of warm white light at 2700K, with a CRI of 90, so colours, wood and skin tones look natural under it.

Because it runs on its own rechargeable battery, it goes wherever you want a soft pool of light without a cable trailing to the wall. On a bedside table it gives a low, warm glow for winding down at night. In the living room it sits happily on a side table, a bookshelf or a mantelpiece, adding a second, gentler light to an evening. It is rated IP65, so it also suits a bathroom: set it on a shelf or beside the bath for a calm light while you soak. It is an indoor lamp, made for moving from room to room inside the home.

The matt black finish runs from the rim of the shade to the base. It gives a soft, low-sheen surface that sits quietly beside dark wood, stone or painted walls. The lamp works at 5V DC and is Class III, and it needs no wiring in. The battery is charged by USB-C, so there is no fixed point it has to stay near. As a practical note, give it a charge before the evenings you plan to use it most, then simply carry it to wherever you are sitting.
