Description

The Fioni dining chair is built from reclaimed wood, standing 87cm to the top of the back and 46cm across. The back is a single wide panel set between two square uprights, curved across its face and shaped along the top edge, with an open gap below it down to the seat. The seat is a solid board on a thick rail frame, the four legs are square in section, and a low H of stretchers runs between them. A flat linen seat pad ties on at the two back corners, and its cover comes off.

The seat sits 47cm off the floor and is 42cm deep, which is standard dining height, and the chair takes 46cm of width at a table. At 87cm the back stands well above a table top, so a row of them reads as a line of backs down a room rather than disappearing under the edge. It goes with the Fioni dining tables and benches, which are built from the same reclaimed wood.

The wood is reclaimed from Indian ceiling beams, sanded down, cut to size and finished with a white wash. The wash pulls the different woods towards a single tone while leaving the variation in grain and colour showing underneath, and knots, splits and rough patches are left in rather than filled out. No two chairs are the same. The Fioni range also runs to dining tables in three sizes and to two benches in the same wood.

Frequently Asked

How high is the seat?

47cm from the floor, and 42cm deep.

Does it come with the seat pad?

Yes. A flat linen pad ties on at the two back corners.

Can the seat pad be washed?

The cover comes off and takes a delicate machine wash at 30 degrees. Do not tumble dry it, and note that the colour may fade in direct sunlight.

How heavy is it?

11.7kg, at 87cm tall, 46cm wide and 44cm deep.

Will every chair look the same?

No. The wood is reclaimed, so the tone, the grain, the knots and the splits differ from chair to chair.

How do I look after the wood?

Wipe the surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth. Mild soap and water can be used, without excess water, and always work with the grain, taking extra care over the heavily textured faces, which can splinter. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Mop up a spill straight away and wipe oil off immediately, then go over the area with a damp lint free cloth and dry it with a soft one. Indoor use only.
