Description

The Fia Large is a dining table with a mango wood top, 220cm long and 90cm deep, carried on two iron legs. The top is a single thickness of wood with the long edges left slightly uneven rather than run straight, so they wander a few millimetres in and out along their length. Each leg is a flat iron bar folded into a four-sided frame that leans outward as it drops to the floor, and the iron reads almost black against the wood.

The top stands 76cm off the floor and the table is made to seat six. The legs are set well in from the ends, so a chair can be pulled up at each end as well as along the sides. At 90cm across there is room for something down the middle of the table with plates still on both sides. It takes a matching bench along one side and chairs on the other.

The top is mango wood and the legs are iron. Mango is grown first for its fruit and cut for timber only once the trees have stopped bearing, which lets farmers replant and gives them a second income from the same orchard. A water-based sealant sits over the wood. The grain and the tone shift from board to board. Fia also runs to a 180cm table, two benches and a desk.
