Description

The seven light Fennhollow cascade steps ribbed clear glass globes down from a 480mm bright nickel plate. Fluted glass sends out fine points of light rather than a single reflection, so the fitting sparkles more than a smooth globe pendant of the same size. The drop adjusts between 1910mm and 2310mm, which makes this the mid length option in the design, long enough to fall properly through a stair and short enough for a room with generous height. Seven E27 lamp holders take 10W LED bulbs and the pendant is dimmable, giving a bright setting and a low one from the same fitting.

It works over a stair turn, in a hall with a landing above, or above a dining table in a room with height to spare. Two metres of drop calls for headroom, so measure from the ceiling to the lowest point anyone will walk beneath. Over a table, keep the bottom globe clear of eye level so conversation across the surface is not interrupted. The ribbed glass suits rooms that want some glitter without colour, and it reads well against plain white or soft grey walls.

The plate and cables are metal in bright nickel, a clean cool silver that sits comfortably with chrome and stainless steel elsewhere in the room. The flutes in the glass hold dust, so dust more often than you would a plain globe. Switch off, let the bulbs cool, then run a dry microfibre cloth or soft brush along the ribs. A barely damp cloth suits the nickel, and nothing abrasive should touch the plating. At 7.9kg it needs a fixing rated for the weight. A thirteen light Fennhollow cascade takes the same ribbed glass into taller voids.
