Description

This small stoneware plate is painted by hand with a single leafy branch that winds across its cream surface from one end to the other, each leaf finished with fine hatched lines like the veins of a real leaf. It is a rectangle with softly rounded corners, 15cm long, 11.5cm wide and 2cm tall, with a low raised edge and a neat base. Stoneware is a dense, hard-wearing ceramic, and the plate weighs 0.3KG.

At this size it is a plate for small things rather than a full meal: a slice of cake or a pastry at teatime, a few biscuits beside a coffee, butter or olives on the dinner table, or a little cheese at the end of the evening.
