Description

The Farnleigh pendant gathers nine ribbed and frosted glass shades into a 920mm circle on a satin brass frame, so it fills a wide space with light from a shallow drop. Overall height adjusts between 510mm and 685mm, which is short for a fitting this broad and part of what makes it workable under a standard ceiling. Nine G9 lamps at 3W each in LED sit behind glass that is ribbed outside and frosted inside, spreading the output evenly instead of leaving nine bright points. At 2.7kg the weight is modest for the size, though the mounting point still wants checking.

Width is what this ceiling light offers. It holds its own over a dining table around 1.2m or more, across a kitchen island, or in a wide hallway or stairwell where a narrow fitting would look lost. Hang it so the lowest glass sits roughly 750mm to 850mm above a table top; in a walkway, keep it well clear of head height. The satin brass reads warm against white, greige and deeper green or blue walls, and the ribbed glass catches light during the day, so the fitting still has something to say with the lamps off.

The frame and arms are metal in a satin brass finish, and the shades are ribbed, frosted glass. Clean the glass with a soft damp cloth and dry it immediately to avoid water marks, and use a dry cloth on the brass; solvent cleaners, metal polish and abrasive pads will damage both. It is a Class 2 double insulated fitting, so no earth connection is required, and the IP20 rating keeps it to dry indoor rooms.
