Description
The Eveready 4.9W LED GLS bulb is a direct replacement for traditional 40W incandescent bulbs, delivering 470 lumens of cool white 4000K light through a standard GLS (General Lighting Service) shape. The B22 bayonet cap fits standard UK lamp holders and ceiling fixtures without requiring any adaptor or modification.
Designed for kitchens, home offices, utility rooms and workshops where cooler, brighter light aids concentration and task visibility, the 4000K colour temperature sits between warm white (2700K-3000K) and daylight (5000K+). The wide 220-degree beam angle provides even spread across the room rather than directing light to a specific area. The bulb operates on 220-240V mains and carries an F energy rating under the current EU labelling scale.
The frosted polycarbonate bulb envelope diffuses the LED chips inside, preventing glare and replicating the appearance of a traditional tungsten filament bulb when lit. At 60mm diameter and 108mm height, the bulb fits standard table lamps, ceiling pendants and wall lights designed for GLS-shaped bulbs. The rated lifespan of approximately 10,000 hours (based on average 3-hour-per-day use) reduces replacement frequency compared to halogen or incandescent alternatives.
Mercury-free construction makes disposal safer than compact fluorescent lamps, though the bulb should still be recycled through appropriate WEEE collection points rather than general household waste. The bulb is not compatible with dimmer switches and will flicker or fail if used on a dimmed circuit.

Frequently Asked
Can this bulb be used with a dimmer switch?
No. This is a non-dimmable LED bulb and will flicker, hum or fail if installed on a dimmed circuit. Use only on standard switched circuits or replace your dimmer with a standard switch.
What wattage incandescent bulb does this replace?
The 4.9W LED output is equivalent to a 40W incandescent bulb in terms of light output (470 lumens). The LED consumes approximately 88% less electricity than the incandescent it replaces.
What colour is the light?
Cool white at 4000K. This is brighter and bluer than warm white (2700K-3000K) but not as harsh as daylight white (5000K+). It suits kitchens, offices and task lighting where clarity is needed.
How long does the bulb last?
The rated lifespan is approximately 10,000 hours. At 3 hours per day average use, that equates to around 9-10 years before the bulb needs replacing.
