Description

The ESP MagDuo is a 2-wire IP55-rated LED strobe designed for outdoor fire alarm and security applications. The unit houses an LED strobe behind a red fresnel lens set into a 150mm square red polycarbonate mounting plate with four corner fixing points. The built-in end-of-line (EOL) function eliminates the need for separate terminating resistors on 2-wire alarm circuits, simplifying installation.

Designed for external mounting on commercial buildings, industrial premises, and residential developments where visual alarm indication is required outdoors, the IP55 rating protects the internal electronics from dust ingress and water jets from any direction. The strobe connects directly to 2-wire fire alarm or security panels and is supplied with a separate device base that clips onto the rear mounting plate, allowing the strobe unit to be removed for maintenance without disturbing the wiring terminations.

The 150mm x 150mm x 80mm dimensions suit standard outdoor electrical back boxes and surface-mounted conduit installations. The red polycarbonate housing resists UV degradation and impact better than ABS alternatives, maintaining colour stability and structural integrity through outdoor exposure. The LED strobe element provides consistent flash intensity without the short lamp life and fragility of traditional xenon tube strobes.

What does IP55 mean for outdoor use?

IP55 means the strobe is dust-protected (5) and water-jet-resistant (5). It can withstand rain, snow and hose-down cleaning from any direction, making it suitable for mounting on exterior walls, canopies and covered outdoor areas. It is not submersion-rated and should not be used in locations subject to pooling water or direct pressure-washing.

What is the end-of-line function?

The built-in EOL function allows the strobe to act as a circuit terminator on 2-wire fire alarm or security loops. This eliminates the need for separate EOL resistors at the final device on the circuit, reducing component count and simplifying troubleshooting during installation and maintenance.

Is the device base included?

Yes. The strobe ships with a separate device base that clips onto the rear mounting plate. Wiring terminates at the base, allowing the strobe unit to be removed and replaced without disturbing the circuit connections.

What voltage does it operate on?
