Description

This is an LED replacement for a 2G11 four pin PLL fluorescent tube. It draws 8W and gives 1000 lumens at 4000K, a cool white, and the pack rates it as a replacement for an 18W PLL. The form is the familiar twin parallel tube on a single white base, with four pins in a row, so it drops into the same lampholder the old fluorescent came out of. Light comes from the whole length of both tubes rather than a single point, which is what makes this shape useful in shallow fittings.

PLL lamps turn up in places where a fitting is long and thin and there is very little depth to play with: under cupboard strips, slimline wall fittings, task lights over a workbench, desk and display lights, and the recessed panels used in shops and offices. At 4000K the light reads as neutral and crisp rather than yellow, which suits a kitchen, a utility room, a garage, a hallway or a home office, and it keeps white paint and stainless steel looking white.

One thing to check before you buy. The pack states that the lamp is not compatible with an electronic ballast, so the existing ballast has to be removed and the lampholder wired directly to the mains, and it says that work must be done by a qualified electrician.
