Description

This GU10 spotlight is an LED lamp drawing 3.6W and giving 345 lumens at 3,000K, a warm white close to the yellow light of the halogen spots most homes were fitted with. The pack rates it as a 50W replacement, so a fitting that held a 50W halogen keeps a similar level of light for a fraction of the power. The beam is a 36 degree cone, the narrow end of the GU10 spread, throwing a defined pool rather than a broad wash. It arrives as a box of four bulbs.

GU10 is the standard mains voltage spot cap in UK kitchens, hallways and living rooms, so these go straight into recessed downlights and track heads with no driver or transformer involved. Check the old bulb first: two stubby pins that push in and twist a quarter turn means GU10, and this will fit. A 36 degree beam suits a run of downlights over a worktop, spots aimed at artwork or shelving, and any position where the light should land somewhere specific rather than fill the room. Will this fit my existing spotlights?

If the old bulb has two stubby pins that push in and twist a quarter turn to lock, it is a GU10 and this replaces it directly. GU10 runs on mains voltage, so there is no transformer or driver to check.

Does it really work on a dimmer?

Yes, the specification confirms it is dimmable. Use a dimmer rated for LED loads; an older halogen dimmer often has a minimum load higher than four 3.6W lamps together, which shows up as flicker or a dead section at the low end of the dial.

How bright is 345 lumens in practice?
