E14 (SES) LED Filament Candle Bulb 2W 250lm - Warm White 2700K

This is a 2W LED candle bulb with an E14 cap, the small screw fitting usually labelled SES on a British ceiling rose or wall bracket. Inside the clear glass sit two slim LED filaments set in a narrow V, so the bulb reads as a lit filament rather than a plain frosted dome. It gives 250 lumens at 2700K, a warm white close to the colour of an old incandescent candle lamp, and the pack rates it as a replacement for a 25W filament candle. Light leaves the bulb across a 320 degree spread, so it throws in almost every direction rather than one way.

Clear filament bulbs earn their keep where the bulb itself is on show: a chandelier with upward facing arms, a pair of wall lights with open shades, a picture light, or a small table lamp whose shade stops short of the lamp. Check the old bulb before ordering. E14 is the smaller of the two common screw caps, roughly 14mm across the thread, and it will not seat in an E27 holder without an adaptor. What does E14 (SES) mean, and will it fit my light?

E14 is a screw cap measuring about 14mm across the thread, sold in the UK as SES or small Edison screw. Unscrew the old bulb and compare: if the thread is noticeably wider it is an E27, which will not accept this one.

How bright is 250 lumens in a real room?

It is a soft output, roughly what a 25W filament candle gave, which is why the pack quotes that figure. One bulb suits a wall light or a bedside lamp; a chandelier holding three or five of them will light a dining table comfortably.

Can I put this on a dimmer switch?

No. The pack marks it non dimmable, so it needs a plain on and off switch. Fitting a non dimmable lamp to a dimmer circuit tends to produce flicker, buzzing or an early failure, and it will not dim smoothly.

What does 2700K warm white actually look like?

It is the warm, slightly golden light people associate with old filament lamps, rather than the whiter 4000K or the blue-white of daylight bulbs. It flatters wood, brass and warm paint colours and reads as restful in the evening.

How long should it last, and what does the E rating mean?
