Description

The Energizer 13W LED 2D is a direct replacement for fluorescent 2D lamps, using a GR8 2-pin base and delivering 1500 lumens of 4000K cool white light. The bulb fits surface-mounted bulkheads and ceiling panels that take the 2D loop format, common in communal hallways, stairwells, utility rooms and commercial corridors where functional overhead lighting is needed.

The LED module draws 13W compared to the 28W or 38W typical of equivalent fluorescent 2D lamps, halving energy consumption while providing the same light output. The 4000K colour temperature gives a neutral, slightly cool-toned white light that works well in functional spaces where task visibility matters more than ambient warmth. The bulb is non-dimmable and runs on standard 230V mains without needing a separate driver or control gear beyond what is already present in the bulkhead fitting.

Rated energy class E under current UK regulations, the bulb offers a 30-year lifespan at typical usage levels, far exceeding the 8,000-12,000 hour lifespan of fluorescent 2D equivalents. Will this fit my existing 2D bulkhead?

The bulb fits any surface-mounted bulkhead or ceiling panel with a GR8 2-pin socket designed for 2D lamps. If your existing fitting takes a fluorescent 2D tube with two pins at the base, this LED bulb will slot directly into the same socket without rewiring.

Is it dimmable?

No. The bulb is non-dimmable and should be used on standard on/off switching only. Attempting to use it with a dimmer will cause flicker or failure.

How does 4000K compare to my old fluorescent tube?

Most fluorescent 2D lamps run at 3000K-3500K, giving a slightly warmer white. The 4000K LED produces a cooler, more neutral white light that increases contrast and visibility in functional spaces but may feel less warm in residential settings compared to the older tube.

Does it need a starter or ballast change?

If your bulkhead has an electronic ballast or starter unit designed for fluorescent 2D lamps, you may need to bypass or remove it for the LED to function correctly. Consult a qualified electrician if the bulb does not light after installation.
