Description

The Endo globe planter is a rounded iron pot, 43cm across and 33cm tall, drawn in at the top to a flat rolled rim. Two raised bands run around it, one above the widest point and one below, and the black has worn off both so they read as gold lines against the body. Between them the surface is mottled and scratched, with rust and copper tones coming through the black, and faint vertical seams show where the sections of the body meet.

It stands on the floor rather than on a shelf. Wider than it is high, it gives a shrub or a small indoor tree a broad base to sit above, and it stands on bare boards beside an armchair. The opening is narrower than the belly, so a root ball goes in through a smaller hole than the pot suggests. It holds 30,000ml and weighs 4.1kg empty, and it is made for indoor use.

The pot is iron and the iron is reclaimed, so the pitting and the tones coming through the black were on the metal before it was made into a planter and no two pots carry the same pattern. The finish is distressed rather than even. The globe planter is made in a smaller size as well, and the Endo range runs to planters, hanging planters, planter stands and vases in the same reclaimed iron.
