Description
The Kichler Emory is a 457mm diameter drum pendant with a dual-mount fitting that allows installation as either a suspended pendant or a semi-flush ceiling light. The frame is finished in olde bronze, supporting an off-white fabric drum shade backed by a glass diffuser that houses three E27 bulbs (sold separately). The fabric shade softens the light output while the glass layer beneath it distributes light evenly across the room.
Designed for dining rooms, kitchen islands and living room ceilings where a centred overhead light is needed, the Emory works in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m. As a pendant, the drop adjusts from 315mm to 1245mm during installation, allowing the fixture to sit 750-900mm above a dining table or worktop depending on ceiling height. In semi-flush mode, the fixture sits 263mm below the ceiling, making it suitable for lower ceilings or hallways where headroom is limited.
The olde bronze finish on the metal frame presents as a mid-tone brown with subtle darker patination, pairing well with both warm wood interiors and cooler grey or white schemes. The off-white fabric drum shade measures 457mm wide and approximately 140mm deep, providing sufficient surface area to diffuse three 60W-equivalent LED bulbs without creating harsh shadows. The shade fabric is translucent enough to allow light through while remaining opaque enough to conceal the bulbs and wiring when viewed from below.
The dual-mount capability means the same fitting works across different installation contexts without needing separate product variants. The pendant rod supplied with the fixture is height-adjustable on installation by feeding more or less cable through the canopy, and removing the rod entirely converts the fitting to semi-flush mode where the shade sits directly against the ceiling canopy.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Emory take?
The fitting takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to achieve ambient lighting suitable for dining and living spaces.
Can it be converted between pendant and semi-flush after installation?
The conversion happens during initial installation and requires accessing the ceiling wiring. Converting from pendant to semi-flush (or vice versa) after the fixture is fully installed would require removing the fitting, adjusting the rod configuration, and re-wiring. It is not a tool-free swap once installed.
What ceiling height works best for pendant mode?
Pendant mode suits ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. For a dining table or kitchen island, the fixture typically hangs 750-900mm above the surface, which requires approximately 2.7-3.0m ceiling height to allow comfortable headroom underneath. Lower ceilings work better with the semi-flush configuration.
Is the fabric shade removable for cleaning?
The fabric drum shade clips onto the metal frame and can be removed for dusting or spot cleaning. Use a soft brush or vacuum with an upholstery attachment to remove dust. For marks, a barely-damp cloth with mild soap is acceptable, but avoid soaking the fabric and allow it to dry fully before re-fitting.
