Description

A candle holder built as a pine cone, 15.5cm tall on a foot 8cm across. Individual iron scales are welded on in overlapping rings up a central column, tightening towards the top, and the column finishes in a cup for a dinner candle. The rust finish goes on after the welding, so it gathers in the joins.

Fifteen and a half centimetres puts the flame well above a plate without the holder disappearing under the candle: at 8cm across, the cone reads as the object rather than as a base for something else. It stands on a sideboard and takes a dinner candle. One is supplied.

The metal is iron and every scale is welded individually, so the overlap falls differently on each cone. A pair of smaller Elagalu holders is made as well. The candle is not included.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

15.5cm tall and 8cm across.

What candle does it take?

A dinner candle.

Is more than one supplied?

One is supplied. A pair of smaller Elagalu holders is also made.

What is the finish?

Rust, applied after the cone is welded together.

How do I look after it?

Wash it in warm water with a mild dish soap after every use, drying it straight away, so that wax does not build up. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish, and stand the candle securely. It gets hot in use, so let it cool fully before handling it, keep it out of reach of children, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
