El Globo Gold Sculpture With LED Opal Sphere Light - 81cm

El Globo is an 81cm gold-finished sculpture combining a fiberglass and polyester resin figurative form with an illuminated opal acrylic sphere at the top. The sculpture depicts a stylised human figure with one arm raised, supporting a 550lm G9 LED light source concealed within the opal sphere. The polished gold finish on the resin body provides a reflective surface that catches ambient light during the day and contrasts with the soft white glow of the sphere when lit at night.

Designed as a decorative accent with functional light output, El Globo suits entrance consoles, living room side tables, designer shelving and bedroom surfaces where ambient mood lighting is needed without ceiling or wall fittings. The 550lm output at 3000K provides warm-white light comparable to a 40W incandescent bulb, enough to illuminate a console surface or sideboard but not bright enough for task lighting. The opal finish on the sphere diffuses the light evenly, avoiding harsh shadows or glare.

The sculpture measures 40cm wide (arm span), 81cm tall and 22cm deep from front to back of the base, with a total weight of 5.6kg giving it a stable footprint on flat surfaces. The polished gold finish is reflective enough to mirror its surroundings while the matte opal sphere provides visual contrast. The figurative form references mid-century modernist sculpture traditions, particularly the work of European decorative artists from the 1950s-70s who paired organic human forms with geometric light elements.

El Globo ships with the G9 LED pre-installed and requires only a standard UK 3-pin plug connection to 220V mains. The sculpture is supplied by Schuller, a Spanish lighting and decorative manufacturer known for combining sculptural forms with integrated lighting since 1969.

Can the LED bulb be replaced?

Yes. The light source is a standard G9 LED bulb that can be replaced when it reaches end of life. The opal sphere detaches from the figure to access the lampholder. Replacement G9 bulbs are available separately at Niori.

Is the sculpture suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use?

No. El Globo is rated Class 1 electrical for dry indoor locations only. The fiberglass and resin construction is not waterproof and the exposed electrical connection at the base makes it unsuitable for wet or damp environments.

How is the polished gold finish maintained?

Wipe the gold surface with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water, then dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners, polishes or solvents which can damage the finish.

What surface does it need?

The sculpture requires a flat, stable surface able to support 5.6kg. The base diameter is approximately 15cm. It works on console tables, sideboards, credenzas, wide shelving (minimum 25cm depth) and floor plinths.
