Description

A garland 130cm long, made from a twisted jute cord with small glass baubles hung from it at intervals, each on its own metal cap and ring. The baubles are mixed in shape as well as colour: onion, faceted and round forms in purple, olive, amber and near-black, every one lustred so the surface is mottled rather than even. They hang about 5cm below the cord.

One hundred and thirty centimetres is longer than a mantel and shorter than a staircase, so it runs diagonally across a door frame with the baubles swinging clear of the wood. Seen from below they read as silhouettes, with the colour showing only where the light gets behind them. The whole garland weighs 0.41kg.

The glass is recycled: waste glass collected, washed, crushed and melted down before it is blown or moulded again. The cord is jute. Each bauble is made singly, so the colours and the spacing will not repeat exactly. Four other Ekiti colourways are made.
