Description

The Eclipseax is an 18cm circular outdoor wall light with a white metal housing and an integrated 9W LED producing 3000K warm white light. The IP54 rating protects the internal LED module and driver against dust ingress and water spray from any direction, making the fitting suitable for covered porches, garage walls, patio zones under eaves, and external entrance walls where the fitting is not fully exposed to driving rain.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation on brick, rendered or timber-clad walls, the Eclipseax provides functional task lighting for doorways, path entrances and garage aprons. The 180mm diameter circular profile projects approximately 70mm from the wall once fitted, giving enough clearance to throw light downward onto steps or forward onto a path without needing a large bulkhead-style fitting. The 9W LED output suits zones where moderate light levels are needed rather than high-intensity security lighting.

The white powder-coated metal housing resists surface corrosion in typical UK outdoor conditions and the sealed diffuser prevents moisture reaching the LED board. The 3000K colour temperature produces a warmer tone than typical 4000K-6000K outdoor security lights, making the Eclipseax visually compatible with interior warm-white lighting when viewed from inside through windows. The non-dimmable driver runs on 230V mains and the fitting carries a 5-year warranty from Ideal Lux.

What does the IP54 rating mean for outdoor use?

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The 9W LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 25,000-30,000 hours of operation, which equates to 10-15 years of typical evening-only use.

Can this be used as a security light?

The Eclipseax provides moderate functional lighting rather than high-intensity security lighting. It does not include a PIR sensor and the 9W output suits doorways and path entrances where consistent ambient light is needed rather than motion-activated security floodlighting.

How is it wired?

The fitting connects directly to 230V mains via a standard three-core cable (live, neutral, earth). Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
