Description

The Dunai is a planter 35cm across and 25cm high, round at the rim and drawing in to a smaller flat base. The reactive glaze is largely matt and granular over the body, flecked pale through the brown, with glossy runs breaking down from the rim and a darker, rougher band gathered down the front. The rim is rolled over and the glaze pools bright along it. The opening measures 29cm.

This is the middle of the three Dunai sizes. At 35cm across and 29cm at the opening it takes one well grown plant, a clipped shrub or three or four herbs together, and at 5kg empty it can be lifted but is not light. It carries drainage holes and is made for outdoors, with a stopper supplied to close them when it stands inside. The three sizes stand together on a path.

The body is ceramic. It is moulded by hand in Vietnam, then glazed and fired, and it is the firing that decides how the glaze lands: where it runs, where it pools bright and where it dries back to a granular surface. No two planters come out the same. There are three sizes in the range.
