Description
The Draper is a table lamp built from hundreds of individual amber glass beads strung on fine wire to form a rectangular column measuring 23cm square and 70cm tall. Two E27 bulb fittings inside the beaded column sit one above the other, casting light outward through the glass fringe. The beads hang loose enough to move slightly when the lamp is shifted, creating a shimmer effect when lit.
Designed for side tables, console tables and bedroom nightstands where ambient mood lighting is needed rather than task light, the Draper works in Art Deco, traditional and warm contemporary interiors. The 70cm height suits standard table surfaces of 45-75cm, keeping the light source at a comfortable level for seating areas. The lamp includes a rocker switch on the cord and takes two E27 bulbs (sold separately), allowing flexibility in colour temperature and brightness. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 4-6W to keep the glow soft and intimate.
Each lamp is assembled by hand, with individual glass beads threaded onto the wire frame one at a time. This means the exact spacing and drape of the beads varies slightly between pieces, and no two lamps are identical. The amber glass filters white light into warm gold tones, while the texture of the hanging beads breaks the light into softer patterns across adjacent walls. At 10.5kg the lamp has significant weight, giving it stability on a table surface but requiring secure placement where it will not be knocked.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Draper take?
The lamp takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, which are not included. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K to keep the light soft and intimate. Higher wattages can be used if brighter light is needed.
Is the lamp dimmable?
Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs you fit and the specific dimmer model. If you want to dim the Draper, use dimmable LED bulbs and check compatibility with your dimmer switch before installation.
How fragile is the beaded construction?
The glass beads are strung on fine wire and will move when the lamp is shifted. Handle carefully during placement and avoid locations where the lamp might be knocked or brushed against regularly. The beads themselves are glass and can chip or crack if struck.
Can the beads be cleaned?
Dust the beads gently with a soft dry cloth or a soft brush. For deeper cleaning, a barely-damp microfibre cloth can be used, wiping individual strands carefully. Avoid soaking the lamp or using chemical cleaners, as moisture can affect the wire stringing.
