Description
We stock the Dip honeycomb louvre grid in black as a glare-control accessory for larger recessed downlights and ceiling fittings. It is a 320mm diameter grid made from black aluminium, with interlocking hexagonal cells that let light through in a tighter, more directional cone while blocking peripheral spill. Fitted over the front of a downlight, it narrows the visible beam and keeps the lamp out of direct view from oblique angles, all without cutting light levels significantly.
We find it useful in living rooms, bedrooms and home cinemas where you want to control glare rather than dim the room, and it works just as well in retail displays, galleries and hospitality spaces that rely on directed accent lighting. The black finish absorbs stray reflections and keeps a low visual profile when the fitting is viewed from below, so the grid stays far less noticeable than a chrome or white equivalent.
The 320mm diameter suits a range of larger recessed downlight housings, so please check the specification of your fitting to confirm it will seat correctly before ordering. Once in place the hexagonal cell structure is rigid and holds its shape, and it needs no extra fixings beyond the mounting ring or clips supplied with a compatible fitting. The grid is not dimmable in itself, but it does not interfere with dimmable lamps or circuits.

Frequently Asked
What does the honeycomb louvre grid do?
It sits over the front of a recessed downlight and narrows the beam into a tighter cone, cutting glare and hiding the lamp from oblique angles. It controls the spread of light without reducing the light level significantly.
Will it fit my downlight?
The grid is 320mm in diameter and suits a range of larger recessed downlight housings. Please check the specification of your fitting against this size before ordering to confirm it will seat correctly.
How is it fixed in place?
It holds in place using the mounting ring or clips supplied with a compatible fitting, so no additional fixings are needed. Once installed the hexagonal cell structure is rigid and keeps its shape.
Does it affect dimming?
No. The grid is a passive black aluminium accessory and is not dimmable in itself, but it does not interfere with dimmable lamps or circuits, so you can still dim the lamp behind it as normal.
