Description
The Dharini in the small size is a linen globe. Panels of natural linen are stretched over a frame and joined along vertical seams, so the shade reads as a sphere built from segments rather than a smooth ball, and the seams stand slightly proud as pale ribs. The linen is undyed and open enough to pass light, so lit from inside each panel glows and the bulb shows through as a soft bright point. It measures 30cm across and 30cm tall.
Thirty centimetres is the size that makes a globe usable in an ordinary room. Where the larger Dharini needs space around it, this one hangs in a hallway, over a bedside table or in a small bedroom without filling the space, and it can sit at a normal pendant drop rather than needing height above it. It is an easy fit shade, so it goes onto a pendant that is already there, or onto a pendant fitting bought separately, with no electrician needed. It is for ceiling use only and weighs 0.58kg.
Linen is one of the oldest woven fibres and it is both hard wearing and recyclable. The panels are cut and shaped over the frame by hand, so the seams fall a little differently on every shade. The Dharini range also holds a larger globe, 51cm across. No flex, fitting or bulb is included.

Frequently Asked
Do I need an electrician?
No. It is an easy fit shade, so it goes onto a pendant that is already hanging, or onto a pendant fitting bought separately.
How is it different from the large Dharini?
Size only. This is 30cm across; the other is 51cm. At 30cm it hangs comfortably in a hallway or a small bedroom where the larger one would crowd the space.
Will the bulb show through?
Yes, as a soft bright point. The linen glows rather than blocking, so a frosted or opal bulb sits more comfortably behind it than a clear filament.
Can it go on a table lamp?
No. It is made for ceiling use only.
How do I care for it?
Wipe it gently with a microfibre cloth with the light switched off. No harsh chemicals and no abrasive cleaners.
