Description

The Dekala is a 46cm diameter round side table built around a cylindrical white marble base, a polished gold stainless steel column, and a tempered glass top with subtle grey veining. The marble base provides 12.78kg of ballast, giving the table stability without needing to be bolted down, while the glass top appears to float 54cm above the floor on the slender gold column.

Designed for positioning beside a sofa, next to an armchair in a reading corner, or as a bedside table in contemporary bedrooms, the Dekala suits rooms where a light footprint is needed but visible mass would dominate. The 46cm top accommodates a table lamp, a stack of books, a drink and a phone without crowding, while the cylindrical base tucks underneath without interfering with foot traffic or vacuum cleaners.

The white marble shows natural tonal variation and fine veining characteristic of marble-effect stone, so no two bases look identical. The polished gold column is stainless steel with a high-gloss finish that reflects light and picks up warm tones from adjacent surfaces. The tempered glass top is 5mm thick with a polished edge and a subtle grey vein pattern printed onto the underside, mimicking natural stone without the weight or porosity of actual marble.

Is the marble base real marble?

The base is described as marble-effect stone by the manufacturer. It has the weight, texture and appearance of natural marble including tonal variation and veining, but Schuller does not specify whether it is solid marble or a composite. Does the glass top scratch easily?

The top is tempered glass with a printed vein pattern on the underside. Surface scratches are less likely than with acrylic, but sharp or abrasive objects can still mark the glass. Use coasters under hot drinks and avoid dragging metal or ceramic items across the surface.
